I took this snapshot back in December while visiting relatives in Maine for Christmas. I liked the juxtaposition of disparate objects and chose it as inspiration for a little writing warm up yesterday. My intention had been simply to describe the vignette in words, but as I wrote, the objects took on personal meaning and the layers appeared: the end of 49.Yesterday was my 50th birthday. That experience of discovery keeps me coming back to writing.
