My Wish for William
by Carolin Messier
Living in your world, my Dear
of dangers, and maliciousness, and false apologies
would bury me in suffocating grave,
perpetual darkness filled with loneliness.
Receive my radiance, my Dear
my most abundant joy and life, deep into the shadows
of your darker view of how things are,
both of humanity and circumstance.
Come into the light, my Dear
and feel the breath of butterflies and wings of hummingbirds
as my lashes brush your cheek and brow
accept my sweetest care and tenderness.
